Political and religious leaders who couldn’t keep their penis in their pants

Our leaders, be they federal, provincial/state or municipal and religious leaders are expected to lead fairly pristine lives because we the voters and taxpayers who pay them their salaries and we who are supposed to be guided by religious leaders in the correct way of living in our communities expect them all to be honest and prudent in their private lives. Alas, that isn’t always the case. It would appear that they try to appear as if they are the kind of people we would want our children to emulate but some of them are simply hypocrites who are immoral.

The United States has had it share of sex scandals amongst it leaders, both political and religious. Here are some of them.

President Warren G. Harding is the only president whose affairs led to the extortion of a major political party. To wit: his fifteen-year romance with Carrie Fulton Phillips, the wife of a friend, who the Republican National Committee reportedly paid on a monthly basis not to erupt, bimbo-style. Once in office, Harding allegedly took up with one Nan Britton, thirty years his junior. According to Britton, Harding introduced her to a small closet in the White House, where they exchanged kisses and made sweet presidential love. Britton claimed to have had an illegitimate child by Harding as well. In 1923, Harding died unexpectedly from ptomaine poisoning. Rumors ran rampant that his wife, Florence, had poisoned him.

Did President Thomas Jefferson, primary author of the Declaration of Independence, two-term president (1801-1809), purchaser of Louisiana and other territories, and the guy on the nickel, actually live with one of his female slaves and father her children? I have no idea, but I'll bet you Strom Thurmond knows. There is no question that Sally Hemings was one of his slaves, and that she came to Paris to care for Jefferson's nine-year-old daughter, Isabel. She appears to have spent the rest of her years at Monticello, Jefferson's blingy Virginia crib. She also had six kids. Genetic testing and genealogical study have established a clear link between Jefferson and the Hemings brood.

Who can forget the scandal of President Bill Clinton who nine occasions engaged in various forms of sexual behavior — up to but not including genital penetration — with Monica Lewinsky, then a 22-year-old intern, in and around the Oval Office. The exact details were eventually compiled by attorney/amateur pornographer Kenneth Starr, who served as Special Independent Counsel in Charge of investigating the Clintons for many many years. The Republican dominated House of Representatives — led by confessed adulterers Henry Hyde and Bob Livingston — impeached Clinton in 1998. He was acquitted of perjury and obstruction of justice after a twenty-one-day Senate trial. He emerged from the proceedings more popular with the American people than he had been before them. Why? Because the American people are more mature than the press that panders to them. In the end, we'd prefer cold, hard leadership to hot sex. Imagine that. Of course he was also accused of having sex with another woman when he was a governor of a state.

President Dwight Eisenhower as far as I know was faithful to his wife when he was the president of the United Sates but when he was the top general of the Allied forces in Europe during the Second World War, he was sleeping with his private secretary despite the fact that he was married.

President Kennedy was no slouch when it came to having extramarital affairs. His favorite sex pet was the sex-looking star, Marylin Munroe. I don’t think she was ever in the White House but he certainly was in her house.

Congressman Bob Barr of Georgia is an terrific example of just how little some politicians respect the institution of marriage. He claimed that he defends marriage. That's why he introduced the Defense of Marriage Act: to protect marriage from homosexuals who seek to destroy it by getting married. "The flames of hedonism," he warned, "the flames of narcissism, the flames of self-centered morality are licking at the very foundation of our society, the family unit." Well, this hypocrite was photographed licking whipped cream off strippers at his inaugural party. His current wife was no doubt upset. But probably not as upset as his first two wives, to whom he failed to pay child support. To his credit, Barr did pay for his second wife's abortion, though she still suspects he was cheating on her.

Strom Thurmond was a man you knew where he stood on race relations. The South Carolina Republican, who died in 2003 at the age of 100, was a strict segregationist from head to toe, with the exception of his penis. His penis, it turns out, was more enlightened. When Thurmond was twenty-two, he impregnated Carrie Butler, his family's African-American maid. She was either fifteen or sixteen at the time. It remains unclear whether their liaison was consensual, but let's assume it was, because, hey, Thurmond seems like a good guy. How good? Well, he ran for President as a segregationist candidate in 1948, vociferously opposed civil-rights legislation, and remained an avowed racist throughout his forty-seven years in the Senate.

Eliot Spitzer, New York's crusading Democratic governor, was caught in a big-ticket prostitution sting, in part owing to laws he helped push through as attorney general. According to a pimp in the prostitution ring — and really, if you can't believe a pimp, who can you believe? — the woman Spitzer hired out had a "magic pussy." And just like a magician, Abracadabra! His carrer as a politician vanished in the blink of an eye.

James E. McGreevey, the then Governor of New Jersey, resigned after admitting to having an affair with another man —his Homeland Security advisor.

Bob Packwood, U.S. Senator, the Oregon Republican and the Chairman of the Senate Finance Committee, had to resign amidst multiple allegations of sexual harassment.

Mel Reynolds, U.S. Congressman, was the Illinois Democrat who resigned during his first term after having a sexual relationship with a 16-year-old campaign worker. He later went to prison.

Neil Goldschmidt, Governor of Oregon, when he was the mayor of Portland, Oregon, he was accused of having a sexual relationship with his 14-year-old babysitter.

Brock Adams,U.S. Senator, was a Washington Democrat who didn’t seek re-election to the Senate after eight women alleged misconduct that included harassment, sexual assault and rape.

Mark Foley, U.S. Congressman, resigned after reports were publicly disclosed that he sent sexually explicit text messages to a young male House Page.

Bob Livingston, U.S. Congressman, was a Louisiana Republican who was set to become Speaker of the House when reports of an extramarital affair forced him to resign from Congress.

Jim West, mayor of Spokane, Washington, was a real hypocrite. He was an anti-gay rights Republican, a former State Senate Majority Leader, who allegedly molested two young boys while serving as a law enforcement officer and scoutmaster, and sought to meet men on the Internet.

Larry Craig, U.S. Senator, was a Republican Senator from Idaho who continues to deny he is gay, but decided not to seek re-election after pleading guilty to lewd conduct in an airport men’s room.

Jon Grunseth, Minnesota gubernatorial candidate, candidate for Governor of Minnesota in 1990 had to quit the race just weeks before Election Day after allegations that he had swum nude with a group 13-year-old girls during a swim party at his home.

Gerry Studds, U.S. Congressman, was a Massachusetts Democrat who was censured by the House for engaging in a sexual relationship with a 16-year-old male House Page. He won a re-election.

Fred Richmond, U.S. Congressman was another man who got re-elected after he was charged with soliciting sex from a 16-year-old boy.

Buz Lukens,U.S. Congressman, was Republican who served time in jail after admitting to a sexual relationship with a 16-year-old girl.

Paul Patton, Governor of Kentucky, had an extramarital affair with a nursing home operator. After she broke it off, the state cited her nursing home with a number of violations.

Bob Allen, Florida State Representative, was arrested for soliciting oral sex from a male undercover policeman. His defense: the cop was a “stocky black guy” and he gave him $20 out of fear.

Bob Bauman, U.S. Congressman, was a Maryland Republican who lost a re-election after being charged with soliciting sex from a 16-year-old boy.

Dan Crane, U.S. Congressman, was an Illinois Republican who was censured by the House for having a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old female page. He lost his next election.

Jon Hinson, U.S. Congressman was a Mississippi Republican who was arrested for having oral sex in a House Men’s Room. He admitted to a prior arrest for exposing himself to an undercover policeman at the Iowa Jima Memorial.

Ted Haggard, as President of the National Association of Evangelicals, used to have weekly teleconferences with the man he helped elect in 2004, George W. Bush. The two discussed areas of mutual interest, such as the wonderfulness of Jesus and how to char-grill sodomites properly. These tete-a-tetes ended in 2006, when the lizardy pastor confessed to "sexual immorality." What he actually meant was, "going on crystal meth binges and cornholing my male prostitute/supplier." At last count, Haggard has received counseling and claims that he is no longer gay.

Billy James Hargis, was a prolific author and radio evangelist. Hargis formed American Christian College in 1971 to teach fundamentalist Christian principles. However, a sex scandal erupted at the College, involving claims that Hargis had sex with male and female students. Hargis was forced out of American Christian College's presidency as a result. Further scandals erupted when members of Hargis' youth choir, the ‘All American Kids’ accused Hargis of sexual misconduct as well.

Lonnie Latham was the senior pastor of South Tulsa Baptist Church and a member of the powerful Southern Baptist Convention Executive Committee. In 2006 he was arrested for "offering to engage in an act of lewdness" with a male undercover police officer.

Earl Paulk was the founder and head pastor of Chapel Hill Harvester Church in Decatur, Georgia from 1960 until the 1990s. A number of women from the congregation came forward during the 1990s and 2000s, claiming that Paulk had sexual relations with them; charges of child molestation were also made. Some of these claims have subsequently been proven correct. Moreover, Donnie Earl Paulk, the current senior pastor of the church and nephew of Earl Paulk, had a court-ordered DNA test in 2007 which showed that he was Earl's son, not his nephew, which means that Earl and his sister-in-law had had a sexual relationship which led to Donnie's birth

Coy Privette is a Baptist pastor, conservative activist, and politician in the U.S. state of North Carolina. Privette was president of the Christian Action League and a prominent figure in North Carolina moral battles. In 2007, Privette resigned as president of North Carolina's Christian Action League and from the Board of Directors of the Baptist State Convention of North Carolina, following revelations on July 19, 2007 that he had been charged with six counts of aiding and abetting prostitution.

Joe Barron was one of the 40 ministers at Prestonwood Baptist Church, one of the largest churches in the United States with 26,000 members, was arrested on May 15, 2008 for solicitation of a minor after driving from the Dallas area to Bryan, Texas, in order to allegedly engage in sexual relations with what he thought to be a 13 year-old girl he had met online. Barron's online communications had in fact been with undercover law enforcement official.

George Alan Rekers was photographed at Miami International Airport on May 4, 2010 returning from an extended overseas trip with a twenty-year-old "rent boy", or gay male prostitute, known as "Lucien" (later identified as Jo-Vanni Roman). Given his rhetoric on homosexuals and homosexual behavior, the scandal surrounded Rekers' decision to employ a homosexual escort as a traveling companion, and how that ran contrary to Rekers' public stances on such issues. Rekers claimed that Lucien was there to help carry Rekers' luggage as Rekers had allegedly had recent surgery, yet Rekers was seen carrying his own luggage when he and Lucien were spotted at the airport.[35] On his blog, Rekers denied having sex with the man. In subsequent interviews, Roman said Rekers had paid him to provide nude massages daily, which included genital touching.

Eddie L. Long in September 2010, several civil complaints were filed against Eddie L. Long by men that stated Mr. Long used his position as the church leader to entice or coerce the men into consensual sexual relationships in exchange for money, travel and goods. At a press event on September 26, 2010 Mr. Long stated he would fight the civil complaints in court and would not comment on the allegations. On December 7th 2010, Rev. Long settled the matter out of court. So much for fighting the allegations.

I have neither the time nor the space to begin writing about the large amount of Catholic priests who sexually molested the young people who attended their churches and/or schools.

I really don't care about a politicians private life. As long as they're doing a good job what they do in private should not be out business.

Religious leaders who have sexual affairs are a different story. They spend they're lives telling us not to do the things that they are doing in secret. This is hypocrisy and I have a low tolerance for hypocrisy.

The anti-sexual attitudes they teach are unhealthy to begin with. They would have us deny our most basic natures for an impossible standard that even they can't meet. They teach us to be guilty of our natural desires. They make us fear Hell and damnation for simply thinking about sex. Many people live twisted lives because of this. Afraid even of sex within marriage. They can't fully enjoy what should be a basic right.

The true perverts are not those with the leather masks and the ball gags. The true perverts are those with crosses on golden chains teaching youngsters to fear sex, fear their bodies, to fear eternal torture for doing what comes naturally.

Sick Bastards!
