FACTS ABOUT THE COVID 19 VIRUS (part 1)
The Coronavirus disease which is also referred to as COVID-19 is a very infectious disease which causes severe
acute respiratory problems by those who are infected by this disease.
Those
affected may develop a fever, dry cough, fatigue, shortness of breath or a sore
throat, however, having a runny nose or sneezing is
less common as it may not be a sign of this particular disease.
The spikes on the surface of coronaviruses give this virus
family its name—corona, which is Latin for 'crown,' and most any coronavirus will have a
crown-like appearance. It can’t be seen with the naked eye.
The Centers for
Disease Control and Prevention (CDCP) has confirmed multiple cases of novel coronavirus in the U.S. following an outbreak in
Wuhan, China, which has sickened and killed thousands worldwide but mainly in China.
A member of the
coronavirus family, COVID-19 is a zoonotic disease which means that the virus cells
can be transferred from animals, bats
and snakes to humans. However, no specific animal origin
has been confirmed yet.
Researchers' understanding of the new coronavirus,
SARS-CoV-2, has exploded since it first emerged as a mystery illness in Wuhan,
China, in December 2019.
We now have a better idea of how it spreads and who's most at risk, and new research about the virus is
being published almost daily. But there's still so much we don't know about
this disease.
Two factors affect how a virus spreads such as its generation time (the
time between when one person becomes infected and when they infect someone else
and its reproduction number
such as the average number of people an infected person goes on to infect.
Here is one good newas for you. The virus is not airborne so
it is silly for the general public to wear masks over their mouths and noses.
However, if someone coughs or sneezes in yor immeditate area, the droplet with
enter your body and you will be infected.
I'm
concerned that people will think that once it's with us, there's nothing we can
do about it, but that couldn't be further from the truth. In 1918, the Spanish flu hit the world and
millions of people around the world died. But eventually, the virus eventually disappeared.
Of
course, that sn’t good news for persons over fifty years of age. Seniors are at
risk of being infected along with persons whose immune system is already fighting
other viruses.
What
should be done is that if everyone can
make small changes to their daily routines such as washing your hand often
since you might come into contact with infectious people, or if you are infectious,
you should reduce your level of
transmission to others. This can result
in huge public health benefits when the virus doesn’t spread.
It may be likely
that the COVID-19 could become a permanent, seasonal disease in humans after
this initial epidemic. It may take many
years to permanently eradicate this virus. it took centuries to ieradicat the
small pox virus.
"Just as the 2009 swine flu expanded, , the virus will
cause a large initial epidemic, perhaps followed by subsequent waves of
infection, and then later. reduce to lower
levels
Right now, the world is suffering from a pandemic of this
virus. I am not going to tell yolu just how many people in the world have this
disease and have died because I don’t want you to pee yor pants while reading
this article. I will however, gibe you
a hint. Hundeds of thsands. Alright go to your bathroom.
Be ve careful on what you touch. For example, iy you are
touching a railing that an infective person
touched earlier, you will both have something in common—both of you will
be infected.
wash you hands with soap before you go outside. The
soap I am told may fight thr virus cells
on the railings. Don’t worry about going to a movie, Ass I said earlie, the
virus is not airborne.
Of course, if you go shopping for groceries and you pick up
a can of soup, there
could be a thousand Covid 19
virus cells just waiting for you to meet them. Alright. Go to the bathroom.
Ofcourse , so far, the number of
victims of this virus in your town or city is not too large so at the timing of
the writing of this article, you are probably safe for the time being.
If our medical scientists find a way
to stop this pending pandemic, we can
live happily for the rest of our lives until the next horrible virus pops p
like a bad boil.
